Clare Sands & Steve Cooney – Evening Show

Connolly’s of Leap are delighted to present: Clare Sands & Steve Cooney 7th Aug, 2021.

Doors 6:30pm.

As we are strictly adhering to covid regulations and are prioritising your safety and enjoyment we have a limited capacity. The performances are outdoors. There are no standing tickets. A table must be purchased. Tables are limited to max seating party of 6 and each table is well spaced from one another. All staff are wearing masks and following sanitising standards. There will be no orders taken at the bar, all table service. We will require a name and telephone number from each table booked for contact tracing. Customers will have to wear face coverings at all times when not seated at their table. We are closing at 11:30pm. If you have any other questions or concerns, do get in touch.

The performance will take place in the new idyllic outdoor space, under a canopy. With plenty of space to gather safely together. We are opening our doors early if you would like to have food. Of course it isn’t mandatory but if you wish to eat before the show, the last order (out of respect for the artists) is at 7.45pm.

Clare Sands.

Channeling the music of her ancestors through her deep rooted Irish traditional fiddling and bilingual song, Clare Sands is a unique force in Irish music. A sixth generation fearless feisty fiddler, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is breaking the boundaries of Irish Music. She makes pulsating Folk music, infused with a myriad of influences from around the world to create an invigorating new sound, for the young and the old, brave and the bold.

​​Steve Cooney is best known for his development of an influential style of guitar accompaniment to traditional Irish dance music which he developed in West Kerry, and  for which he won the National Entertainment Award with Séamus Begley in 1997.He has participated in making more than 250 CD’s, either as a guitar or bass player or as producer and engineer. Also a poet and songwriter, he has worked with many iconic international artists in rock and country music  but his primary focus is Irish traditional music, and fusions of that genre.In 2020 he was given the RTÉ Folk Awards ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award.
